The last trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 has been revealed, and it’s looking very promising.
The trailer opens with an intimate scene between Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and her younger sister, Prim (Willow Shields), before transitioning towards an impassioned speech to overthrow The Capitol and President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
With a montage of action-packed battle scenes, as well as Katniss being shown in the company of Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Katniss declares, “We all have one enemy, and that’s President Snow. He corrupts everyone and everything. He turns the best of us against each other. Stop killing for him. Tonight, turn your weapons to The Capitol. Turn your weapons to Snow.”
The trailer closes with the franchise’s signature whistle, known by Hunger Games fans as Rue’s (Amandla Stenberg) four note song.
When asked about the film series wrapping up, Lawrence states, “It was so emotional that I was completely numb and dead inside.”
“It felt really weird,” says Hutcherson, with Hemsworth professing he was “drunk.”
According to Hutcherson, he and Hemsworth celebrated the filming of their final scenes the night before by sharing a bottle of scotch, thus backing up the latter’s claim of being intoxicated.
“Then (the next day) we came to the set because Jen and Woody (Harrelson) had a last scene together and we wanted to watch the last couple takes,” says Hutcherson.
“Then they called a wrap,” Hutcherson adds — and it was then did things take a turn for the emotional, “and we kind of sat there on the steps in this room and we just held each other…”
According to Francis Lawrence, director of Mockingjay, the franchise’s producer managed to snap a picture of the four cast members basking in each other’s company. “You can’t see their faces,” he says, “but you just see them all hugging.”
A celebration inside the courthouse in East Berlin where they were shooting then followed, with champagne and the rest of the cast and crew present to commemorate the closing of the Hunger Games movie franchise.
Jennifer Lawrence reaffirms said celebration, adding, “And then a week later we were all together and we thought, ‘Was it weird that we got so dramatic?’”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 opens in theaters on November 20.
