Tim Cook Furious During 60 Minutes Interview With Charlie Rose – Here’s The Reason Why!

Apple’s Tim Cook loses his cool in his 60 Minutes interview with CBS’s Charlie Rose. Cook claimed: “That is a political crap. There is no truth behind it”, referring to the accusation that Apple is avoiding paying taxes by outsourcing the labor overseas.

In the report from fortune.com, Rose was able to get the most of Cook’s stand on the alleged tax avoidance. Cook said that the company pays more taxes than any other company as Apple ranks number 5 in the Fortune 500 ranking. Rose agreed and even claimed that it was only fair given the amount that Apple makes.

What prompted Cook to lose his cool was how Apple is still being portrayed as the pioneer of the modern day tax avoidance, four years after the article was published in the New York Times.

The story initiated an investigation by a Senate subcommittee where Cook sat through two hours arguing about the U.S tax code. “This is a tax code, Charlie, that was made for the industrial age, not the digital age,” Cook explains to Rose.“It’s backward. It’s awful for America. It should have been fixed many years ago. It’s past time to get it done,” Cook added.

He defended that he cannot afford to pay 40% in taxes just to stop outsourcing. Apple’s main benefactor of its overseas operation is China for which he claimed is not about wages, but skills. He said that China put an enormous focus on manufacturing.

The U.S., over time, began to stop having as many vocational kind of skills. I mean you can take every tool and die maker in the United States and probably put them in the room that we’re currently sitting in. in China, you would have to have multiple football fields,”, Cook said.

He never deviated from Steve Jobs’ ethos, he claimed. “This is still Steve’s company. It was born that way, it’s still that way,” Cooked said .
Cook serves as the Apple’s Chief Operating Officer before taking over the late Steve Jobs’ post as the Apple’s CEO in August 2011.
