There has been a spooky development in town as Halloween is right around the corner –the Halloween Whopper from Burger King is set to tickle your taste buds with eerie black buns.
The bun derives its color from Burger King’s steak sauce, that has been specially baked into the bun. Also, the flavor of this Halloween Whopper is reportedly that of black pepper.
“We tailored the flavor of the black bun to the American palate with A.1. Sauce, a flavor this country loves, and we’re delivering it in a way that’s never been done before by baking it into the bun,” says Eric Hirschhorn, Burger King Chief Marketing Officer.
The bun has caused quite a commotion amongst consumers with some blasting the burger’s look. While others say that as long as the burger tastes good, then they’re fine with the look.
This is not the first time Burger King is experimenting with crazy colors on its products. In Japan, they had introduced a burger with a bright red-on-red bun that was colored using tomato powder. The burger was filled with red tomatoes, red chili peppers and a red “angry sauce” chili paste.
Earlier this year, Burger King had announced that they wanted to partner with McDonald’s to come up with a burger called the McWhopper to celebrate Peace Day on September 21. Unfortunately, the proposal was turned down by the McDonalds CEO.
