Sony Honami leaked again with 20MP camera capable of shooting 4K video

Sony Honami leaked again with 20MP camera capable of shooting 4K videoThe Sony Honami has leaked again and we have got the same reports and specs as with previous leaks, that is to say, we are in for a beast of a smartphone with an incredibly powerful camera, one to truly match the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Starting with the camera, Sony will pack a 20MP camera with f/2.4 aperture and Sony’s G Lens. With the Japanese companies’ extensive portfolio when it comes to high-end cameras, the Sony Honami will be packing a real punch.

The specs inside the smartphone will be top-end too, with the Sony Honami set to have a Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 3300mAh battery, close to the one found in the LG G2, Galaxy Note 3 and Motorola MAXX.

It will come with Sony’s light UI skinning and some apps dedicated to the camera. With the Xperia line, the question was either will it be waterproof or will it have an optimized display capable of taking on the top-end smartphones, for the Sony Honami, the 1080p will return without any waterproof features.

A new report also details how the Sony Honami will be able to capture 4K video, at a time when 1080p video is only starting to sink in as something necessary on smartphones. Like Nokia with the Lumia 1020, Sony will add a new camera UI with more installed apps and features, to take the best photos.

No reports on price, with a Nokia Lumia 1020 coming at $299 on AT&T, Sony may add a premium price tag for a device of this calibre. It would be nice to see this come at no more than $199 on contract.

The Sony Honami is coming to IFA 2013 and will be revealed a few hours before the Samsung event, where the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear will be unveiled. It is going to be hard for Sony to keep up with the Samsung news, especially with a huge device launch from the South Korean manufacturer.
