Scientology Was Trying To Recruit Jennifer Lopez And More; Tom Cruise’s Secrets Revealed

The King Of Queens actress Leah Remini has recently divulged secrets of her life in the Church of Scientology — including why she left and an alleged plot to recruit her celebrity friend, Jennifer Lopez.

“I know what my former Church — how they deal with people who tell their story,” she said, speaking to 20/20. “And so I wanted to be the one to say it.”

Remini claims she was asked to bring her best friend, Lopez, and her then-husband, Marc Antony, when she was invited to Tom Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes.

“The Church was really the one who invited them. On Tom’s behalf,” she said.

At the wedding, she and Lopez were constantly being separated, with Remini claiming the two were placed at different tables and were even driven to venues in different vehicles over the course of the wedding weekend.

“They were always trying to extract me,” Remini said. “I could only assume they wanted to make Jennifer a Scientologist and maybe I was barring that road for them.”

An even bigger issue for Remini was the fact that her friend Shelly Miscavige — who is the wife of the Church’s leader, David Misavige — was absent at the wedding.

“Shelly was always where David Miscavige was,” explained Remini. “It’s a big wedding that the leader of the Church is here and his wife isn’t.”

In a knowledge report for the Church, Remini slammed Cruise and Miscavige — two Scientologists who sat on high ranks in the Church.

“I now see where the cracks are in our Church, and it’s David Miscavige. It’s Tom Cruise,” she allegedly wrote. “They are bringing Scientology down.”

For her claims, Remini was disciplined by the Church, being sent to their Sea Org facility in Florida for ‘reprogramming.’

“Basically they were just trying to get me to recant what I said, to apologize for ruining the wedding of the century,” Remini stated.

Remini, who had been a member of the Church for more than 30 years ever since she joined with her mother and sister at age 8, claimed she began to seriously consider departing from the religion after Holmes decided to divorce Cruise.

Since leaving the Church in 2013, Remini has become vocal of her criticism towards the Church. Content of her new autobiography — Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, out November 4 — revolves around her years and struggles in Scientology.

Following Remini’s backlash, Cruise was spotted leaving the the set of his new film, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, just a day after the explosive interview. He appeared uneasy — a far cry from his usual uplifting self.

Cruise was introduced to Scientology courtesy of his first wife, Mimi Rogers. In 1990, he became a full-fledged Scientologist; however, his conversion has not come without a string of other criticisms, including being the alleged reason for the failure of his marriages to Holmes and former wife, actress Nicole Kidman.
