A San Bernardino update has revealed more information about the Facebook post made by one of the shooters in which she declared her allegiance to the terrorist group ISIS.

Earlier this month, Tashfeen Malik and her husband, Syed Farook, murdered 14 people and injured many more in a tragic shooting at a care center for people with developmental disabilities. Investigations that took place after the tragedy revealed connections between the murderers and other terrorists, including ISIS members.

After the terrorist connections were discovered, the case was turned over to the FBI to continue investigating the suspects. It was then discovered that Tashfeen Malik had recently made a Facebook post in which she declared her loyalty to ISIS’ leader.

In the most recent San Bernardino update, we learned that Malik’s Facebook post said, “We pledge allegiance to Khalifa bu bkr al bhaghdadi al quraishi.” The FBI’s notes reveal that they believe she is referring to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who is currently the leader of ISIS.

Additionally, the FBI has revealed that on December 2nd, the day of the San Bernardino shooting, Tashfeen Malik had searched social media for materials that were related to ISIS.

Another San Bernardino update reveals that another arrest has been made; Enrique Marquez, who was a neighbor and friend to Malik and Farook, has been arrested for conspiring to provide resources to terrorists. It is believed that Marquez purchased the rifles used in the attack and that he plotted terrorist attacks along with Farook.

Despite the connections to ISIS that have been uncovered, the San Bernardino shooters are still believed to have acted on their own accord and there is no proof that their actions were ordered by ISIS. The pair is believed by the FBI to have ‘self-radicalized,’ although ISIS has since expressed through their al-Bayan Radio that “We pray to God to accept them as martyrs.”
