Samsung is usually busy all-round the year announcing plenty of new gadgets and smartphones especially in its well-known Galaxy lineup. The South Korean giant will announce a number of new Galaxy devices as new reports suggest that the company is preparing to launch a new Galaxy Tab S lineup of Android powered tablets in the next few months.
The report comes directly from SamMobile, a well-known website which has leaked information on upcoming Samsung products in the past. The website notes that unlike earlier models, the new lineup will focus on premium features which could very well mean that Samsung is getting ready to compete with the likes of iPad Air and iPad Mini.
One of the highlights of the device would be the integrated fingerprint scanner on the home button, which brings added security to the Android tablet. These tablets would be able to recognize multiple fingerprint patterns and hence, different users can create multiple profiles on the same tablet. This would make it easier to share the device between two people, without compromising on the security of the device.
There are two different models rumored, one with an 8.4 inch display while the other with a 10.5 inch one. The new Tab S lineup will most likely retain the traditional Galaxy design; however, the company could add new texture patterns for the back cover.
As mentioned above, the Galaxy Tab S lineup would be a premium tablet segment and these tablets are said to feature high end specs and a high definition screen. Both the devices are expected to come with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution AMOLED panels and hence, watching movies as well as working on the tablet would be a great experience.
Inside, the tablets would run Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa Core processors along with 3GB RAM. There will be an 8MP back shooter along with a 2.1Mp front camera.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, IR blaster and DLNA. It is said that both the models would have an LTE option too.
The rumors do not mention anything about the price tag of the device, but given that it will be a part of the premium category of Galaxy devices, one can expect these tablets to be priced higher than existing Galaxy Tab models.
The Galaxy Tab S could very well be Samsung’s answer to existing premium tablets in the market like iPad Air, so the features and the pricing of the product would really decide the fate of the product.
