In a world, where a smartphone can practically perform any task, there are a certain set of users who are not able to take advantage of this new age device. For example, people who are old or disabled cannot use a traditional smartphone. There are hardly any phone manufacturers out there who release specific phones designed for them.
But Samsung is planning to help these disabled users; especially those are blind with 3 new accessories for Galaxy Core Advance. The device, which was released, last December, does not come with any special features for the disabled, but according to the company, these new accessories should make it easier for people with disabilities to use the phone.
Today’s announcement releases three innovative accessories for the phone, namely UltraSonic Cover, Optical Scan Stand and Samsung Voice Label.
The UltraSonic Cover is ideal for users who are blind. The cover alerts the user of any obstacle like objects or people in front of him via audible sounds and vibrations. Samsung claims that the cover can detect objects which are up to 2 meters away.
The second accessory is the Optical Scan stand. It helps the user read documents aloud. All he has to do is place the paper on the stand which automatically activates the app to read text from the image. This is also ideal for users with limited eyesight, as it helps them to read a printed document without much fuss.
The last accessory is an NFC voice tag. The company calls it the Samsung Voice Label, which allows users to tag objects and assign notes to it. With the help of NFC, users can record, stop and access these notes on the go. It can also be used to set instructions on how to use an electronic device.
Samsung Galaxy Core Advanced is actually a decent phone, so such disabled individuals should have no problems working with the device. It features a 4.7 inch TFT display, 1GB RAM, Dual Core Krait processor and 5MP rear camera. It has a large 2,000 mAh battery and 8GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 64 GB via a MicroSD card.
These accessories for the smartphone are currently available for sale and the company even plans to make it compatible with other smartphones from the Galaxy lineup in the coming months. However, these accessories do not come alongside the device, and the user will have to purchase them separately.
