The company’s plan to expand the Alpha lineup is not at all surprising, given that it’s the typical Samsung strategy. The South Korean giant always starts off a lineup with an impressive device and then adds a number of new devices to the series, building on the success of its predecessor.
So, the Galaxy Alpha lineup could be the metal bodied smartphone series from the company and we may soon have a lot more metal Galaxy smartphones to choose from.
While the SM-A500 model may look much more premium alongside its other brothers like Galaxy Alpha or Galaxy S5, thanks to its full metal design, the report states that it will come with just mediocre specifications.
The device will have a 5 inch SuperAmoled display; however the resolution will just be 1280 x 720 pixels. Inside, there will be a decent Snapdragon 400 Quad Core processor along with 16GB internal storage and 2330 mAh battery. For camera, there will be an 8MP rear sensor along with a 5MP sensor up front. The source did not reveal the RAM on the device, but given the mid-range specifications, we expect it to be 1GB.
As you can see, the specifications are actually disappointing considering its premium metal finish. But we can look this in a different way too. If Samsung prices the device in the mid-range segment, then it could take on rival Chinese manufacturers which have been offering such specifications already for a very cheap price.
Metal could be Samsung’s answer in this segment, and if it’s the case, then we can expect some great looking mid-range device pretty soon.
Unfortunately, we can’t confirm anything as of now, so we can only hope that Samsung prices the device appropriately if this rumor about its specifications turns out to be true.
