Just a few days back, we published an article about the rumored Galaxy Alpha device which is expected to be the first metal smartphone from Samsung. In the article we had mentioned that Samsung would most likely release the device early this month so as to not take away the attention from the most important announcement of the year, the Galaxy Note 4.
Today, Sam Mobile reports that Samsung has sent out invites for its UNPACKED event to be held on 3rd September at 2pm. This report is in line with a previous rumor which said that Samsung would announce the device on the same date.
While the Note series flagships are always the center of attraction at this event every year, some reports suggests, Note 4 won’t be the only device that will be announced that day. According to the same sources, Samsung will release a number of gadgets this year, which could include a wearable device called Gear Glass and a virtual reality headset called Gear VR.
Although Samsung is yet to officially announce anything about a VR headset or a Glass wearable under development, earlier leaks and reports have given us a fair idea about these gadgets. The Gear Glass, which will be a Google Glass competitor, would most probably run on Samsung’s own Tizen OS.
The rumored Gear VR headset is also expected to be unveiled at this event. Earlier rumors said that Samsung collaborated with Oculus to develop the device and even added that it would be compatible with galaxy devices, but since then, there’s very little news about the device.
Along with these gadgets, Samsung will most likely announce its Galaxy Note 4 phablet which is rumored to come with some exciting new features. One of those features includes the YOUM 3 sided display which Samsung had demoed a few months back. Also, some reports state that it could come with a UV ray sensor connected to its S Health app along with the traditional finger print and heart rate sensors.
Other interesting specs include a 5.7 inch Quad HD display with resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, Snapdragon 805 SoC, 3GB RAM, and 16MP sensor with OIS. While these reports say nothing about the body of the phablet, we would love to see a metal finish like the one found on LG’s G3 handset.
