Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the company’s first metal smartphone rumored to release in August

Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the company's first metal smartphone rumored to release in AugustWhile it’s no surprise that manufacturers are now moving on to a metal body finish for their flagships, some of the existing companies like Samsung have not yet experimented with the new material. The current Samsung flagship came with the same plastic finish as its predecessors, which disappointed a lot of fans.

HTC’s last two flagship devices have come with a metal body and fans really loved it. Even LG incorporated a brushed metal look on its LG G3 flagship device. So, it was about time that Samsung released a device with a premium metal finish.

Fortunately, according to Sam Mobile, Samsung is working on a metal galaxy device which it will soon launch in the market. The report from the website claims that the device could release as early as August 4th, but Samsung has not yet confirmed anything as of now.

Sam Mobile has an excellent track record when it comes to leaks about Samsung, so it’s quite likely that this report turns out to be true.

The device mentioned in the report could be the leaked Galaxy Alpha smartphone. The same website had released some pictures of the device alongside the current flagship Galaxy S5. The device comes with a semi metal finish and if it turns out to be real, it would become the first metal body smartphone from the company.

At first, the website said that the device would release on August 4th. However, the article was later updated to reveal a new date, August 13th. As you can see, the date is not yet confirmed but we feel the South Korean giant would release it sometime before September itself.

Normally, Samsung announces its Note series flagship around this time, and hence, if the company is following a similar schedule, then it would be logical to release its first metal device sometime before that.

Being the first metal body smartphone from Samsung, Galaxy Alpha could generate a lot of excitement among fans. Now, Samsung wouldn’t want this excitement to affect the announcement of another important device like the Note 4.

Moreover, Galaxy Alpha won’t be a high end device. Earlier reports suggest a 4.8 inch screen, fingerprint scanner and 32GB memory which put it somewhere between the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 Mini.

But having mid-range specs may not be a bad thing as the cost too would be mid-range. So, fans who always wanted a metal Galaxy device can own one without having to spend as much as a flagship device.

Anyways, these are just speculations from our side and we’ll have to wait for a few more weeks to get official information about the device from the company.
