Ronda Rousey Shocking Injuries: ‘Holly Holm Kicked Me So Hard, I Can’t Even Eat An Apple!’

For the first time since her defeat against Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has finally spoken up about her feelings following her first career loss.

Rousey conducted her first interview since the loss with ESPN The Magazine sharing how much Holm’s blow to her career has affected her physically and emotionally. “(I’m) really (expletive) sad,” Rousey told the magazine, which reports the athlete’s teeth were loosened by the impact of Holm’s kick. “It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.”

It was the kick to the face that ultimately ended the fight between the two. Rousey said it has been tough accepting that she won’t end her career undefeated, however, UFC president Dana White believes Rousey’s profile has actually been raised, following her loss.

In light of rematch talks between Rousey and Holm now in the works, White stressed Rousey should not feel rushed to return to the octagon. However, if she needs six months to return to full-contract training, the window for a Holm rematch could be pushed beyond a logical timeframe, should the targeted timeframe be in July for the UFC 200.

“Maybe I can’t do it all before my prime, before my body is done,” said Rousey in the interview, talking about picking herself up again despite her crushed spirit. “But (expletive) it, maybe I can.”

Besides the magazine interview, Rousey’s last presence in the scene post-defeat was a short social media message in which she assured fans of her health. The interview has come in good timing, painting Rousey in positivity after receiving an onslaught of negative reactions prior.

How do you feel about Ronda Rousey? Do you think she’s ready to get back into the octagon, or is it too soon?
