The source of Trump’s CNN Wrestling GIF image has publicly apologized as of late. The Redditor also explained his stance on the issue, claiming that he didn’t mean to encourage violence against reporters. He also wants to inspire other people to avoid annoying people on the internet just because they can’t see them personally.
According to CNN’s report, Reddit user HanA**holeSolo admitted that he created the image to elicit laughs on the “The_Donald” subreddit. He admits that he created the GIF image of Trump striking CNN in a wrestling match, but the audio didn’t come from him. The 45th President of the United States has previously posted HanA**holeSolo’s GIF image complete with the Wrestlemania 23 sounds and dialogue. The Redditor apologized as he didn’t expected that his work would escalate up to this level. Along with his apology, the GIF creator deleted his “HanA**holeSolo” account.
“First of all, I would like to apologize to the members of the reddit community for getting this site and this sub embroiled in a controversy that should never have happened. I would also like to apologize for the posts made that were racist, bigoted, and anti-semitic. I am in no way this kind of person, I love and accept people of all walks of life and have done so for my entire life. I am not the person that the media portrays me to be in real life, I was trolling and posting things to get a reaction from the subs on reddit and never meant any of the hateful things I said in those posts. I would never support any kind of violence or actions against others simply for what they believe in, their religion, or the lifestyle they choose to have. Nor would I carry out any violence against anyone based upon that or support anyone who did.”
At the end of his apology, the GIF image creator asked other people to cease trolling as it is an unhealthy practice. He said netizens should be responsible even if internet anonymity protects them from any repercussions. “To people who troll on the Internet for fun, consider your words and actions conveyed in your message and who it might upset or anger,” he wrote. “Put yourself in their shoes before you post it. If you have a problem with trolling it is an addiction just like any other addiction someone can have to something and don’t be embarrassed to ask for help. Trolling is nothing more than bullying a wide audience. Don’t feed your own self-worth based upon inflicting suffering upon others online just because you are behind a keyboard.” said HanA**holeSolo.
The viral video made CNN, other many mediamen and even other US politicians angry at Trump’s post. The CNN Wrestling GIF implies that Trump is supporting violence against mediamen with this post. The President has yet to have any follow-up statements regarding this issue but he does maintain an antagonistic stance with CNN.
