The company said earlier today that over 10 million Prime users signed up for the premium service this holiday season. So, this means over 10 million new customers tried out the Prime membership in the final weeks of 2014.

So, it looks like the recent hike in the membership fees to $99 didn’t do much harm to the company. Prime members have a number of special services at their disposal such as free video streaming and free two-day shipping. Plus the company is bringing a lot of new services at the member’s disposal such as the Prime Music, Prime Photos and the Prime Pantry.

The same day delivery saw a boost this year as customers ordered 10 times more items via this option as compared to 2013. What’s more, Amazon will expand its Amazon Now service to a number of new cities by next year which promises delivery within 1 hour after the order has been placed. The service is currently only available in certain parts of Manhattan, that too for a certain per-determined items. You have to pay $8 for this fast delivery service but for those Amazon Prime users in the area who have some time to spare, can get a two-hour delivery for free.

Coming back to the stats, as expected more number of people ordered products on Amazon with their mobile devices over this holiday season. Amazon further notes that mobile shopping accelerated as the holiday season progressed. The e-commerce giant saw the most mobile sales on Cyber Monday and the total sales for the year 2014 from mobile devices doubled as compared to last year.

More customers supported charity this year through Amazon as 16 times more users shopped on smile.amazon.com in 2014. These amazon smile customers supported over 7 times more charitable organizations as compared to last year.

Amazon Fire TV was the bestselling media streaming box on the website. So, Fire TV beat Roku and even Apple TV this year to make it to the top. Fire TV stick which is not very widely available was the most wished item on Amazon and also the fastest selling device ever for the e-commerce website till date. The bestselling tablets were Fire HD 7, Fire HD 6 and Fire HDX 7.
