The rumored Nokia X aka Normandy, Android powered smartphone has surfaced yet again, this time on a Vietnamese Online retailer. The details as posted by the retailer would put the smartphone in the budget category alongside the existing Asha lineup from the company.
Over the past few weeks, images of Nokia X have been leaked several times, along with some details about its specs. However, today’s leak gives the device a more definitive status. The product posting literally reveals all the specs of the device, even mentions the details about the warranty. What it does not include is a release date for the device, and states that the device is not yet announced by Nokia.
According to the posting (which has been now removed as expected), the Nokia X A110 smartphone will come with a Dual Core 1Ghz processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. The device accepts external memory cards and hence, storage can be further increased up to 32GB. Connectivity features include the standard Wi-Fi 802.11 b/ g/ n with Wi-Fi hotspot capability and support for Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP.
On the back, there’s a 5MP camera, but there’s nothing on the front. Nokia probably decided not to go with a front shooter to cut down the cost. Even the display is nothing spectacular featuring a 4 inch screen with 800 x 400 pixel resolution. However the USP of the device is not its screen or even the camera. What makes this phone different is the Android flavor on the Nokia built, that too at a very reasonable price.
The posting does mention the price of the smartphone, which, if turns out to be true, would make it a great buy for budget customers. The device is priced at $110 USD, which is quite low for the specs and the experience it is going to provide. Further, the device is expected to run on the latest Android 4.4.2 version, along with HERE Maps and Microsoft’s Android apps making it a great bargain.
As mentioned above, the listing also details on the aftercare warranty of the device. Just like other Windows phone 8 powered Lumia devices, Nokia will provide 12 months of Genuine Nokia warranty to Nokia X users.
If the listing turns out to be true, Nokia may finally have a product which will be a hit right from the start. Given that, for the past few years, fans worldwide have been longing for an Android powered Nokia smartphone, this particular device is easily one of the most anticipated and mystery devices of the year. According to reports, the company may release the device at the MWC show this month.
