The final quarter of the year is usually busy for tech companies as they often release their latest flagships sometime before the holiday season. We have already seen the craze for Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and looks like fans will have something more to be excited about in a few days.
While we know that Apple has a big event scheduled for tomorrow, where it will most likely reveal the new iPad and iMac versions, a new report claims that Google will unveil new Nexus devices later today.
Usually, when a company is all set to announce their new flagship device, you’ll see a big event for it, however, this year, it is being said that Google will announce both the Nexus 9 and the Nexus 6 silently via a blog post. According to the sources of Forbes, Google decided against a big event for its Nexus 9 unveiling because it had to fine tune the new Android L operating system.
Forbes even said that the new Nexus 9 tablet will go up for pre-order two days later, i.e. on October 17 and will start shipping from November 3rd. The 16GB will retail for $399 while the 32GB 4G LTE version will be available for $499.
The specifications are expected to be close to what earlier rumors predicted. Nexus 9 will come with an 8.9 inch 2048 x 1440 pixel resolution screen with 64 bit processor, NVIDIA Keplar GPU and an 8MP rear camera. Also, some of the trademark features from HTC’s flagships have been incorporated on the new tablet including HTC Boom Sound and dual front facing speakers.
Nexus 6 too is rumored to debut today with top of the line specifications. It is said that the device will come with a 2.7Ghz Snapdragon 805 processor along with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory. On the back there will be a 13 MP OIS camera while on the front; there will be a 2.1 MP shooter. As for the display, you can expect a 5.9inch 2K resolution screen up front.
Unlike the specifications which have been more or less the same from different sources, nobody knows the exact pricing for these devices. A new source from Europe claims that the Motorola Nexus 6 will carry a hefty price tag of around $499 while the Nexus 9 tablet will start at $400. The pricing for the tablet is around the same figure as Forbes’s sources, so it could be true, but the pricing for Nexus 6 stated here is quite high and we’ll have to wait and see if the device turns out to be as costly as the report states.
Given that we expect an announcement later today, stay tuned for to the website for more information.
