A lot of attention went to NASA after they supposedly discovered alien life, which was apparently leaked by Anonymous. The notorious hacker group stated that NASA were on the verge of finding alien life, gaining plenty of attention. It gained so much attention, NASA science chief Thomas Zurbuchen had to make a statement regarding the possible breakthrough.
Zurbuchen stated that they haven’t found alien life yet, but are hoping to find some soon according to Space. “Are we alone in the universe? While we do not know yet, we have missions moving forward that may help answer that fundamental question,” he stated on Twitter. While Zurbuchen has declined the rumors, the post from Anonymous has gained a ton of attention from the media and the public.
Back in April 26, Zurbuchen did confirm that NASA was looking for life in the cosmos, during a briefing that was eventually called “Advances in the search for Life.” “Taking into account all of the different activities and missions that are specifically searching for evidence of alien life, we are on the verge of making one of the most profound, unprecedented discoveries in history,” Zurbuchen said during the hearing.
Possible proof for alien life includes the thousands of exoplanets found by the Keplar space telescope. There’s also the recent discovery of hydrogen in the geysers blasting from the south pole of Saturn’s moon Enceladus. Finally, there is the possible detection of water-vapor plumes emanating from the Jovian satellite Europa.
While the organization hasn’t found life in space yet, they could be on the verge of doing so, something Anonymous hinted at. Zurbuchen seems to be adamant about not having found any aliens yet, so we will see how long that last. Plenty of people feel like it isn’t a matter of determining if there’s alien life, but when we will find alien life.
