Moto X was Motorola’s first smartphone to be developed fully after Google purchased the company back in 2011 for over $12 billion. Despite being a flagship device, it came with just decent specifications. However, Motorola smartly incorporated many special features like voice activated Google Now, open camera app with a flick of a wrist, small but powerful battery etc. So, even though the specifications were not as powerful as other flagships, the device received positive reviews from both experts and customers.
Moto X proved that customers were not just attracted towards high end specifications but they were looking for a great user experience.
It’s been a year since the phone was announced and naturally fans are waiting for the next version of the device, which is expected to be released in the coming months.
Moto X+1, or the Moto X v2.0 will be the first smartphone to be announced after the Lenovo acquisition earlier this year. There have been plenty of leaks revealing information about this device and a new source tells Droid Life that Motorola will release the device as early as next month.
The source states that Moto X+1 will arrive on Verizon sometime around September 25th. That’s a Thursday, which is usually the day when Verizon announces new hardware. Also, the company had earlier tweeted that a new flagship will hit the markets around late summer. While the said date will be after summer, the source could be right.
However, we can’t really believe this new report as the source failed to provide any concrete proof. So make sure you take this news with a grain of salt.
While the release date is still not clear, the device was spotted on a benchmarking website a few days back. A new device from Motorola with model XT1097 was benchmarked on Geeksbench. The device like the existing Moto X came with just decent specifications. So, it could be the rumored Moto X+1 handset.
According to the benchmark, the device sports a 2.46 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 4 cores. It also says that the device runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat version. Unfortunately, it did not provide any further details about the device.
But given that we may hear more about the device on September 25th this year according to the new source, we are sure, there will be more leaks and rumors in the coming few weeks.
