Miss Universe Winner 2015 Not Miss Philippines? 5 Reasons Why Mix-Up Might Be A Cover-Up

The Miss Universe 2015 coronation mix up has caused an uproar all over the world. Some people say Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach totally deserved to win. Others say Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was robbed of her crown.

But could Steve Harvey’s blunder actually be a ploy underneath all along? Here are a few reasons as to why the shocking turn of events could have been rigged from the very beginning.

1. Maybe Steve Harvey did it for the publicity.

Some people speculate Harvey made the mistake on purpose; in fact, there are even suspicions that he was paid to call out the wrong name. Harvey’s mistake could have been a publicity stunt to make himself more relevant and to get his name circulating in the industry. After all, what better way to get global attention than to make a major error on Miss Universe — AND go viral on the Internet?

2. Or it could have been a publicity stunt for Miss Universe instead.

Fact of the matter is, the Miss Universe pageant isn’t much of a ratings magnet. Last year, it garnered its highest ratings in a decade at 7.6 million viewers, though for the most part, it’s usually under the radar in the United States. Moreover, it aired on a Sunday night — five days before Christmas, of all holidays, at that — which isn’t the most ideal of air times.

Clearly, the pageant had to do something to make itself a standout this year, never mind if it had to take a more unconventional route.

3. What if they did it to make Miss Universe history?

Frankly, Wurtzbach taking home the Miss Universe 2015 crown — and ultimately taking it away from Miss Colombia — will go down as one of the most memorable coronations in pageant history. It’s definitely one for the Miss Universe books, and if that was their intention all along, well… they certainly didn’t make a mistake there, at least.

4. But did the teleprompter REALLY say “Miss Colombia”?

While he took full responsibility for the mix up onstage, Harvey — seen from footage on Snapchat — claims he read “Miss Universe – Colombia” on the teleprompter, despite the results card clearly showing otherwise. Was it really on the teleprompter, or could there have been some other underlying reason?

5. Donald Trump probably had something to do with it.

Just a few months ago, it was announced that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump sold the pageant to WME/IMG. Following Trump’s discriminating comments on Muslims, NBC — the pageant’s former home — cut all ties with the business mogul, resulting in Univision dropping the pageant as well.

While Trump no longer owns the Miss Universe pageant, some people are thoroughly convinced that he had something to do with the results mix up.

Do you think any of these hold any truth? Was the alleged mistake a hoax, or could it have truly been human error on Steve Harvey’s part?
