Miss Germany has been a huge purveyor of controversy ever since the conclusion of the Miss Universe pageant, when she said some less than kind things about Miss Philippines, the winner of the competition. Now, at least, she seems to be regretting her actions and has published a public apology on Facebook.

Just a short time after the Miss Universe 2015 winner had been declared, Miss Germany was interviewed about her thoughts on the Colombia-Philippines scandal, where Miss Colombia was mistakenly announced as the winner, when it was supposed to be Miss Philippines.

During her interview, Miss Germany was asked why she and the other candidates ran to console Miss Colombia instead of congratulating Miss Philippines. Miss Germany’s response was that “None of us[the candidates] voted for Philippines.”

Miss Germany followed up her statement by saying that she felt Miss Colombia”was robbed as the real winner. I was very happy for Miss Colombia because she really deserved it. I’m really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I’m sorry to say it.”

Following that first scandal, Miss Germany came under scrutiny once again when Jonas Gaffud, Miss Philippines’ mentor during the competition, made a post on Facebook claiming that Miss Germany had tried to sabotage him.

Gaffud alleged that the German candidate for Miss Universe had lied and said that Miss Philippines was already on her way to New York when Gaffud was trying to find his client, when she was in fact still in her room.

Miss Germany must have realized how much bad publicity she has been creating for herself, however, and an apologetic statement has been issued on her Facebook page. The statement reads, “Miss Universe Germany Sarah-Lorraine feels sorry for her colleague and friend Miss Colombia. This must have been the worst nightmare. She never intended to offend Miss Philippines in any way. She feels sorry for both girls.”

Miss Germany’s page, which has since been taken down from Facebook, also said in the statement, “Sarah-Lorraine is very happy a half German girl brings the crown of course a bit to Germany as well! Congrats to our friends of Philippines for winning the crown after all. She wishes Pia all the best for this year as Miss Universe 2015.”
