Mark Zuckerberg Slams Donald Trump: ‘Muslims Are Welcome At Facebook’

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has voiced his support to Muslims all over the word, saying that putting the blame for the violent acts of extremists should not be placed on their shoulders.

“After the Paris attacks and hate this week, I can only imagine the fear Muslims feel that they will be persecuted for the actions of others,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities. Even if an attack isn’t against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone.”

“If you’re a Muslim in this community, as a leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you.”

Zuckerberg’s post comes amidst a series of anti-Muslim backlash in the U.S. and abroad, following the recent Paris terror attacks, as well as the mass-shooting in San Bernardino, California. Amongst the more provocative criticisms, there is Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States.

“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” said a campaign press release on Monday. Trump’s campaign added that such a ban should remain in effect “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Trump later said in an interview, “I’m doing good for the Muslims. Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me. They say, ‘Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.’”
