While being interviewed on The Today Show, Charlie Sheen made a startling reveal about himself. “I’m here to admit that I am, in fact, HIV positive,” Sheen admitted to the world, saying that he was diagnosed with the sexually transmitted infection four years ago.

Although he has made an effort to keep his diagnosis secret, being blackmailed into spending more than $10 million to keep people quiet about it, Sheen professed that he has never hidden the diagnosis from any of his sexual partners and claimed that “I always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition.”

Despite Sheen’s claim to have always confided his diagnosis before engaging in sexual activity with any new partner, there are already at least 6 women who are claiming that they had sex, both protected and unprotected, with the actor and that he had never disclosed his HIV positive status with them.

These six women are already preparing to file lawsuits against Sheen for emotional distress, fraud, and sexual battery, among other things. The number of women taking legal action against the actor is expected to rise dramatically as a source close to him claims that he’s had upwards of 200 sexual partners within the last two years alone.

Bree Olson, a former girlfriend of Sheen’s, is also claiming that he never disclosed to her that he was HIV positive during the entire time that they were together, adding that “We had sex almost every day for a year.” Upon hearing rumors that her ex had HIV, she had herself tested for the virus and the results were negative. Charlie Sheen said, however, that he didn’t know himself that he was HIV positive until after the pair had broken up.

Two of Charlie Sheen’s ex wives, Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, have both confirmed that they are HIV negative and that their children have tested negative for the virus as well. Sheen claims that they were both aware of his diagnosis but they have not confirmed or denied this.

On the other hand, Amanda Bruce, who dated Sheen for eight months, said that not only was she aware that he was HIV positive but she still knowingly proceeded to have unprotected sex with him after consulting with doctors and taking PrEP(pre- exposure prophylaxisto) drugs to lower the risk of contracting the virus herself.

While being HIV positive would been a far more serious and even fatal diagnosis a couple of decades ago, modern medicine has made it much more manageable despite the fact that there is still no cure for the virus. Sheen’s doctor, Dr. Robert Huizenga, stated that the actor “was immediately put on treatment, strong anti-viral drugs,” and that the level of virus in his blood now is undetectable. Charlie Sheen will have to continue taking the anti-viral drugs for the remainder of his life.
