LG Volt announced, will compete with Moto G in the budget segment

LG Volt announced, will compete with Moto G in the budget segmentLast year, Motorola showed that a powerful handset at an aggressive price can do wonders for a company. Moto G soon became the best-selling handset for the company till date and there was not a single competitor in this segment who could match up with the sales figure of this value of money smartphone.

Competitors have obviously seen this success and LG is using a similar strategy to compete with Moto G. The South Korean giant recently unveiled a budget low end smartphone called the LG Volt to take on Moto G in United States.

The device actually looks pretty good, in fact so good that may be it may very well be one of the best budget handsets around. Just like some of its L series smartphones, LG is offering a large screen, 4.7inches to be exact on Volt with a qHD resolution. The display quality is not so good, but quite similar to the ones found on rival devices.

In terms of design, the phone is nothing out of the ordinary, sporting the same rectangular curved form factor as competitors. Inside, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad Core processor along with 1GB internal storage. While the internal storage is backed up by a MicroSD card slot which supports cards up to 32GB, 1GB system memory is still very low, even for low end standards.

On the back there’s an 8MP shooter, which sounds better than the 5MP shooter on the Moto G. However, these days, it’s proven that megapixels don’t really portray the actual capability of the camera and it’s quite likely that the camera quality of both of the phones is quite similar.

One area where LG managed to outdo Moto G is the inbuilt battery. LG Volt comes with a large 3,000 mAh battery, which is actually larger than many other mid-range devices in the market. This means that Volt could run throughout the day with ease, easily beating Moto G’s small 2,070 mAh one. According to LG, the Volt gives around 24 hours of talk time and given the battery size, this figure could be easily achieved.

On the software side, LG Volt runs Android 4.4 out of the box and comes with plenty of LG branded tools like Knock Code, QPair, Smart Screen, Smart Video etc.

Now, coming to the best part, the device will be available for sale in US for just $179.99 off contract, making it one of the hottest smartphones in this price range.
