Its spring season already and it’s time for major manufacturers to reveal their flagship devices. LG naturally would be showing off its flagship model this season and if the latest rumors are to be believed it could be as soon as February 13.
According to a report from Korea, LG has started sending out invites for an event to be held on February 13. While the invite doesn’t mention the flagship device or even its features, it does have a picture with the words ‘knock-knock knockin on’ which may mean that the company is planning to release the G Pro with the usual knock knock feature. The knock to unlock feature which first debuted with the G2 smartphone is now available on a number of LG devices including the L II series smartphones. So, it’s quite natural to believe that the feature would be found on the latest flagship.
Earlier, LG had confirmed the reports of a G Pro successor and the likely launch in February. While many believed that the company would release it at MWC event in Barcelona, it looks like the launch is going to be way before the event. LG also said that the company, in line with the current naming scheme would drop the Optimus tag from the new phone calling it just G Pro 2. The event is going to be held at the LG Twin tower in Yeouido, Seoul as mentioned in the invite sent to ZDNet Korea.
While the company has not yet revealed any information on the specifications of the device, several rumors claim that the display would be ramped up to 6 inches from 5.2 on the original G pro and would feature extremely thin bezels, as thin as 0.4 mm.
Other expected specs include a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB Ram, and Android 4.4 kitkat version along with LG’s own UI on top. Also, it is almost confirmed that G Pro 2 will feature a 13MP OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera with Slow Motion video capturing capabilities.
Also, ETNews reported yesterday that the G Pro 2 will most likely feature a high powered 1 Watt speaker system. The audio output will be customizable according to user preferences. Overall, the audio output will improve by around 30 percent as compared to the original G Pro according to the new site.
With just a week to go for the launch, one can expect more rumors/ details on the G Pro 2 in the coming days.
