Nearly 2 months after LG announced its flagship device, LG G3, the company has released a mini version of the flagship called as the LG G3 Beat.
Rumors about this device were going around the internet for quite some time now and we already knew some of the possible specs of the device, thanks to these leaks. Moreover, the device was already announced in China back in June, so we had a fair idea as to what to expect from the global G3 Mini version.
LG G3 Beat comes with a large 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. As you can see, the screen is larger than what previous leaks predicted. We are kind of surprised too, given that LG is marketing this device as a mini version but packed in a 5 inch screen instead of something smaller like a 4.5 inch one.
The device runs on a 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor and comes with 2GB RAM. Inside, there’s 8GB internal storage which can be expanded via a MicroSD card along with a 2,540 mAh removable battery.
On the back, there’s an 8MP shooter with the same laser autofocus seen on the flagship along with a 1.3MP front camera. In comparison, G3 came with a 13MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front shooter. While the company has downgraded the camera module in the G3 Beat, the phone comes with many of the software goodies found on the original G3. For example features like Touch and Shoot, Gesture Shot, Smart Keyboard, Quick Memo+ are all available on this phone.
As for the connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Micro-USB, 3G and 4G LTE support.
The device retains the much loved floating arc design of the G3. The phone measures 137.7 x 69.6 x 10.3mm and weighs just about 134 grams.
LG G3 Beat will first release in its home country, South Korea this Friday followed by Europe and Asia in the coming weeks. According to the company, the device will retail in two different names, LG G3 Beat in Asia and LG G3 s in Europe.
Unfortunately, the company has not yet announced its plans for a North America release; however we may hear some more details from the company in the upcoming weeks. Also, LG is yet to announce details like pricing, but we’ll get an idea about its retail price when phone first releases in South Korea this Friday.
