After months of leaks and confirmations, Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is finally official. The company announced the device via its Facebook page along with a Google+ post which said, “From rumors to reality! Max performance, pro camera–we just unveiled this beast of a phone.”
The announcement revealed the specifications of the device, which confirms the earlier post by the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Arthur Wei back in July. The device with model number K920 will be the current flagship of the company and will succeed the existing Lenovo Vibe Z, the K910 model.
The company is reportedly calling it the maximum performance device and has given special attention to its rear camera.
On the front, there’s a large 6 inch Quad HD 1440×2560 pixel display which is an improvement from the 5.5 inch 1080p screen on the earlier Vibe Z model. This huge resolution display also puts the device in direct competition with other Quad HD flagships in the market like the LG G3 and Oppo Find 7.
Inside, there’s a Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.5 Ghz. This is the same processor used in existing flagship models from other competitors. The processor is complemented by 3GB RAM onboard, which is also an improvement from the 2GB RAM on its older model.
As for storage, you get 32GB internal memory, which is unfortunately not expandable via MicroSD. But given that the previous model too didn’t come with a memory slot, this isn’t a surprise.
On the back, there’s a 16MP shooter with OIS and dual LED flash. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K videos. There’s also a 5MP front camera which can click decent pictures.
On the software side, the device runs Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box along with Vibe 2.0 UI on top. The phone supports NFC and comes with a 4,000 mAH battery which should be enough to last a day long. Unfortunately, the company did not provide the talk time of the device with this huge battery.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro will come in black, gold and titanium colors and will start selling from September 2014. However, the company is yet to announce other details like the countries where it will be available first and the pricing of the device.
Lenovo’s latest flagship looks like a great device even with competitors like LG G3 and HTC One M8 in the market. So would you go out and buy one for yourself?
