Katy Perry Beats Out Taylor Swift As ‘Forbes Top-earning Performer Of 2015’

Forbes compiled their list of ‘The World’s Highest Paid Musicians of 2015’ by examining pre-tax income from June 2014 to June 2015, with stats from several sources, ranging from concerts, record sales, publishing, endorsements, and other business ventures.

On the top of the Forbes list is none other than Katy Perry, beating out longtime rival Taylor Swift (and pretty much everyone else) to the crown, having earned a whopping $135 million. Perry went from 23rd position from No.1 most likely due to her Prismatic World Tour, which grossed more than $2 million per city.

Additionally, 31-year-old Perry — real name Katheryn Hudson — was also named the top-earning celebrity on the planet, following athletes Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

“Music has changed,” Perry — who is an endorser for fashion brands such as H&M and Moschino, as well as makeup brand CoverGirl — told Forbes in June. “The record is that launching pad for all kinds of other creative branches.”

While Swift missed the Forbes throne, she did land a spot on the No. 4 position, pulling in $80 million this year. It is likely she will be topping the 2016 list as her 1989 Tour earns about $4 million per city. Combining her worth with DJ boyfriend of nine months, Calvin Harris, the two make for the highest-earning musical couple at $66 million.

The alleged feud between Perry and Swift began last year, when the Blank Space singer told Rolling Stone about a ‘straight-up’ enemy pop star whom she refused to name. Following the interview, Perry later tweeted, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…” alluding to the movie Mean Girls.

According to TMZ, the bad blood between the two hit makers reportedly stems from three of Swift’s back-up dancers quitting during an arena tour to go work for Perry.

Also on the Forbes list are One Direction, who bagged the No. 2 spot following $130 million in earnings in spite of ex-member Zayn Malik’s departure. No. 3 was country singer Garth Brooks at $90 million thanks to his world tour with wife Trisha Yearwood.
