iPhone 7 Will Be Thinner And Better Than iPhone 6s – Here’s Everything We Know!

Just when you thought the iPhone 6 was thin enough, Apple decides to take it up — or rather down — a notch, with reports claiming the company’s iPhone 7 will be even slimmer.

According to Japanese technology blog Macotakara, in order to make the iPhone 7 thinner, Apple intends to remove the phone’s headphone jack, whose 3.5mm width is what stands between the next iPhone and a slimmer body. The blog adds that this will allow the iPhone 7 to be thinner by the 6s — released just two months ago — by “more than 1mm.”

In lieu of the 3.5mm jack, iPhone 7 users will reportedly utilize the Apple’s Lightning power port, which has a thinner but wider spec. However, this may slightly downsize the phone’s functionality, as the lack of 3.5mm jack may mean listening to music whilst the phone is charging will be impossible, unless the Bluetooth function is being utilized.

Despite that, Apple execs don’t seem to be too worried, as the slimdown seems to be on par with Chief Executive Tim Cook’s efforts to faithfully preserve the late Steve Jobs’ obsession with creating thinner and thinner hardware as the years pass.

Earlier this year, the new 12-inch MacBook (1.31cm at its thickest) was criticized for only having two ports: one for headphones and one for everything else. This forced many users to bring various adapters and whatnot for inputs that were too big to accommodate the slimmed-down MacBook.

Reports add that Apple will bundle the iPhone 7 with EarPods that have Lightning connectors — something that third-party headphone makers will have to match. Word on the iPhone street is that next year’s model won’t have a home button either.

What do you think of these supposed iPhone 7 specs? Too thin, or just right?
