Shortly after losing during the semi-final stage of X Factor UK, Lauren Murray has revealed her decision to take a break from social media after receiving tons of hateful comments and even death threats via Twitter. Although it cannot be confirmed if the death threats were sent by 4th Impact fans, the tweets, nevertheless, are nothing short of appaling.

Sharing her thoughts on social media, Lauren Murray said “It’s creepy. Someone said, ‘I hope your mum gets shot in the head by ISIS.’ I’ve had loads of them, death threats, it’s disgusting.”

In addition to the threats against Lauren Murray’s mother, some Twitter users have even threatened Lauren directly saying that they hope she will be “shot and killed” by ISIS herself.

There are also numerous tweets to be found that call the X Factor singer a b***h, including one where a 4th Impact fan said, “So glad Lauren went. She was a b***h to everyone (including 4th Impact) and I think there was betters than her.”

After receiving so many abusive comments, Lauren Murray said “I would like to start an anti-bullying campaign. People are disgusting, that’s why Twitter is the devil.”

Lauren also went on to share how stressful being a part of the singing competition was for her, and said that “People forget that this has been going on for two months. Two months of full-on filming. It is expect the unexpected, mate, you’ll never be prepared for the X Factor. I want to sleep for ten years. I need a holiday.”

It’s not just the death threats or stress of filming that seems to be getting to Lauren Murray, though. The singer goes on to reveal that the competitors on X Factor UK make barely any money, and shares that she couldn’t “even buy a pair of knickers right now if I wanted to. I haven’t earned anything for two months.”

Although the singers’ liver performances are all recorded and sold on iTunes, Lauren  Murray revealed that the singers themselves don’t get a share in any of the profits that are made. She shares that she knows her single One Last Time made it to number 9 in the iTunes singles chart, but “We don’t get money for that .”

Despite the horrible death threats she’s received on Twitter and earning nothing but “pocket money” on the show, Lauren Murray is keeping a positive eye on the future and is already working on an album that she hopes to release and preparing to go on tour for gigs that will hopefully actually pay her.
