Huawei has just announced its flagship smartphone for 2015, the brand new Huawei P8. Along with this device, the company also unveiled a larger variant called the Huawei P8 Max. Both of the phones feature similar tech specs, however, the latter comes with a much larger 6.8-inch display.
Both of the phones sport an aluminum plus glass body. The display up front will be protected by the new Gorilla Glass 4 from Corning. The phones are extremely thin, as the P8 measures just 6.4mm in thickness, while the P8 Max measures 6.8mm. The company claims that the P8 Max is one of the thinnest devices of its size.
The Huawei P8 flagship sports the company’s own Kirin 930 octa-core processor based on four Cortex A53E and four standard Cortex A53 cores. There will be 3GB of RAM on board along with 16GB and 64GB storage options. This can be further expanded via the device’s MicroSD card slot. The display up front features a resolution of 1920 x 1080p full HD.
Huawei has paid special attention to the camera on the Huawei P8 flagship. The phone comes with a 13MP sensor on the back with an OIS that’s much better than the one used on iPhone 6 Plus. The advanced image processing chip produces natural colors, reduces noise, and improves low-light photography. Despite the super slim body, the P8’s camera will not protrude, unlike the iPhone 6’s camera. The company has also included a number of innovative camera features such as light painting, which can produce results such as silky water, light graffiti, and star tracking. There’s even a special director mode, which can link in three different smartphone cameras to the device for four
different camera angles while shooting. The front 8MP camera is ideal for selfies thanks to the beauty mode that improves the brightness of the pictures taken with the camera.
There will be standard features like a 2680mAh battery, dual SIM dual standby support, 4G LTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more. The phone also comes with special Huawei exclusive functions such as Knuckle Touch Technology, which provides additional gestures for cropping and taking screenshots, Huawei Signal Plus, Huawei Wi-Fi Plus, a Special Hands free mode ideal for conference calls, and Huawei Music Plus.
The large screen Huawei P8 Max features almost the same specs except for its 4360mAh battery, which can provide up to 2.3 days of battery life under normal usage. The Huawei P8 will go on sale soon in over 30 countries starting at $532, and the P8 Max will be available in May at a starting price of $582.
