HTC One W8 Windows Phone may release as soon as August 2014

HTC One W8 Windows Phone may release as soon as August 2014Since the past few months we have come across several leaks and rumors about a Windows Phone from HTC. One of those leaks was from evleaks who even said that the phone would look a lot like HTC’s current flagship, HTC One M8 and would be called as the HTC One W8.

Looks like those rumors were quite right as Engadget reports today that its sources confirm an upcoming Windows phone from HTC. The website further adds that the device would come with a metal body along with some of the premium features of the One M8.

If this report turns out to be true, this would make HTC W8 or the so called HTC One for Windows a totally different Windows phone. The smartphones running Windows 8, especially from Nokia have always come in bright colors with a polycarbonate body. So, Windows version of HTC One M8 would definitely be a new design addition to the existing line of Windows smartphones.

The device is expected to sport a metal body with features like Boom sound and duo camera found on the current HTC One flagship. Further, the device will have VoLTE, which would make it the first Windows smartphone to come with this feature. Finally, Engadget says that HTC One (M8) for Windows will come on Verizon. Unfortunately, they have not mentioned any other carriers that could carry the device.

The Windows HTC One will most likely release in the third quarter of 2014, before the end of September. However, sources of WPCentral say that the device would be announced much before that, around August 21st. The website further adds that it will be available off contract for $610 and on contract for $199 from Verizon. The source also confirms the name HTC One (M8) for Windows for the device.

So, it looks like Microsoft has big plans for its platform this year. A device like HTC One on Windows would surely be a hit among customers and can even attract new users to the platform. Moreover, Microsoft’s
entry into the manufacturing business after the purchase of Nokia could make things even better for the Windows Phone ecosystem.

Along with this device, Microsoft is planning to announce a selfie phone as well as an affordable high end Windows phone soon according to the latest report from the Verge. So, stay tuned to the website in the next few days for some exciting details about upcoming Windows Phone devices.
