Google Rolls Out White Version of Nexus 7 Tablet

Google Rolls Out White Version of Nexus 7 TabletGoogle is giving another option for those who intend to buy its Nexus 7 in time for Christmas. The giant technology firm has unveiled a white version of its popular Android tablet. The device in new color is now available online through the Google Play store, but initially only in the US, the UK, and Japan.

Consumers who want to wrap this special edition tablet in time for the gift-giving season can place an order by noon of December 16 to make sure the product would be delivered before December 25. The company expects demand for the device to be as strong, if not stronger, than current demand for the original all-black version, which is available in Germany, Canada, France, Spain, Australia, and South Korea.

New color, fixed features

The new white Nexus 7 comes with memory of 32GB and connectivity through Wi-Fi. This could be a setback compared to the all-black version, which also comes in 16GB memory and LTE Unlocked options. Thus, the white tablet comes in a single price tag—$269. The pricing scheme is exactly the same as its counterpart original version.

The slate’s unique white color is not all that has actually changed. The tablet also comes with an HD Corning glass display with resolution of 1,920 X 1,200 pixels. It also has a 1.2-megapixel camera at the front and a rear shooter of 5 megapixels. The white tablet has 2GB of RAM, quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Google has revealed, through its product page, that the white Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Users could easily update it to the new operating system version, 4.4 KitKat. It could be recalled that the original version came with the new OS when it was launched last month.

One setback

However, it could be expected that some consumers would be disappointed with the external feature. That is because despite the new slate being marketed as an alabaster delight, it is actually not all white. Only the sides and back are in milky white color, while the front covering retains the original black color.

This way, if a user prefers to put a protective case to the white Nexus 7, the tablet would look like the ordinary black device. That is why it is more advisable to refrain from using those device covers.
