Student’s Selfless Act Turns Him Into An Internet Hero

One man’s act of kindness could mean the entire world to another.

21-year-old Godfrey Cuotto, a student in Hamilton, Ontario, was on the way home on his usual bus ride when he suddenly found himself confronted by a man who wanted to hold his hand.

Robert, the man who approached Cuotto, has special needs. He appeared to be distraught over how crowded the bus had become, reaching for Cuotto and finding comfort in his arms. Initially, Cuotto was taken aback by Robert’s actions, only to quickly realize that all Robert needed was sympathy and support.

Cuotto, pictured left, told Huffington Post Canada, “He kept holding my hand. I thought I was getting pranked at first, but he just needed comfort.”

He further explains that during the 30-minute bus ride, Robert continuously held his hand, leaning on him for support as he hugged Cuotto and kissed his hands.

“I just allowed it, like what am I going to do?” Cuotto said. “Sometimes you just have to be selfless and put someone else’s needs above yours.”

A relative of Robert’s later contacted Cuotto on Facebook, showing thanks for the compassion showered upon his uncle. They also informed Cuotto that Robert suffered from cerebral palsy and was also deaf.

Netizens have expressed gratitude and admiration for Cuotto’s selflessness, with the viral photo amassing over 50,000 likes and more than 12,000 shares on Facebook alone.

“It gives me so much joy to know there are still people out there who are kind and caring and willing to do what others may not want to do,” wrote one commenter. “This young man has great character. His actions allow him to build treasures in heaven. His parents should be very proud they did it right. God bless him and others who do such selfless deeds.”

Cuotto revealed to Toronto radio station Kiss 92.5 that he stayed with Robert until the last bus stop and said that his act of kindness was due to his upbringing implemented on him by his mother, saying, “I was raised by a queen.”
