Fans will be delighted over the glimmer of hope for Constantine Season 2? This week’s Comic-Con International San Diego may be the venue to that confirms what fans have been clamoring for over social media.

After Constantine’s Season 1 finale, fans received bad news that NBC canceled plans for Constantine Season 2 due to poor ratings.

As fans would recall, Constantine followed the quest of DC Comics character John Constantine, a known demon hunter and occult detective. Throughout the first season, he was seen protecting the innocent and fighting off supernatural enemies who threatened the world due to the “Rising Darkness”. While trying to save people, Constantine tried to atone for his sins and redeem his soul from eternal punishment.

Its first episode aired in October 2014 and fans followed Constantine’s journey throughout the entire season. However, due to the storyline, it was quite tough translating John Constantine’s adventures into the small screen. As a result, NBC decided to cap it off after 13 episodes. What started with over 4 million viewers dwindled to a mere 2.9 million.

Here are the things we currently know regarding discussions and speculations surrounding Constantine.

With DC Comic characters making its way on the CW TV Universe, it makes sense to add Constantine to its roster. It had a fairly successful Season 1, but not enough for NBS long-term plan.

An initial strategy done by the CW was to seed Constantine Season 1 in its platform, together with the network’s past episodes. It stirred fans’ interest and speculations of a revival started to circulate.

If a season 2 proceeds, it will be Matt Ryan as John Constantine. Comicbook reported that DCTV will release DC Collectibles based on 2017 action figures and it will feature

Vixen, Supergirl, The Atom, and the Matt Ryan version of Constantine. Why would they invest in merchandise if they had no plans of renewing the series?

As early as May 2015, these speculations had started after Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim quipped the possible integration. “A lot of the pieces are in place, except for that one final piece, which is what’s the fate of Constantine? That’s the tricky thing. But it comes up in the writers’ room constantly — we have a number of ideas, one idea that’s particularly exciting to me. We’re in a little bit of a wait-and-see mode”, he said.

Fans should make their petitions loud and clear. This week will be a crucial one for the future of Constantine Season 2.
