Speculations about the release of this new Mac Pro began last year. It could be recalled that Apple chief executive Tim Cook committed to an updated version of the popular machine, which he said would likely be released in 2013. Some skeptics thought he would run short of that promise until this announcement.
Apple released a sneak peak of the newly updated Mac Pro in June. That was when the Worldwide Developer Conference was held. The company started providing more details about this update in October during its highly anticipate and well-attended iPad event. Just last month, a red Mac Pro was featured at RED charity auction, where the unit was sold for a whopping $977,000.
