In contrast with the recent releases of most of its new products, Apple Inc quietly released its iPad mini with Retina last Tuesday (November 12). The new device could now be ordered at Apple.com with delivery of the product within a day to three business days.
It is available in 16GB and 32GB versions with Wi-Fi. Other models of the new iPad mini would be shipped within 5 to 10 days in any color. The price tag would start from $399 for its 16GB Wi-Fi model. The most expensive would cost $829 for its 128GB Wi-Fi plus cellular version.
iPad mini with Retina display would be available online with the option for Personal Pickup at any designated Apple Store. It could also be obtained through Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, and selected Apple Authorized Resellers. T-Mobile offers up to 200MB of monthly data for free to attract customers to the ‘un-carrier’ service.
New updated versions of iPad
Apple Inc unveiled the new iPad Retina mini last month together with the new iPad Air. The company released iPad Air on November 1 but did not announce any release date for the new mini version. But it had been consistent in assuring the public that the new iPad mini would be made available in the market sometime this month.
In a statement, the giant technology firm said it was overwhelmed by the market response for the iPad Air. That is why it is now excited to see how customers would welcome the new iPad mini with Retina display. Apple thinks the market would also appreciate the new iPad mini because it is also thinner, lighter, and more powerful compared to most of the predecessors.
Ultrafast iPad mini
The new iPad mini with Retina display is considered as an updated version of the iPad mini. It features a 7.9-inch display with 2,048 X 1,536 pixels of screen resolution. Like the iPad Air, it also operates on the new A7 chip that is also inherent on iPhone 5S. This way, the 64-bit architecture is brought to iPad, making both updates ultra fast.
Meanwhile, the original version of iPad mini remains on sale. Its 16GB version with Wi-Fi capability now costs $299. The Wi-Fi and cellular version has a price tag of $429. As mentioned, all of the four major wireless networks in the US currently offer iPads.
