If you weren’t able to tune in, or just want to relive the best moments, here are some of the evening’s highlights, in no particular order.

1. Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth made out on stage.

After performing their hit collaboration song “Marvyn Gaye”, Trainor and Puth demonstrated their lyrics of their song and decided to “Marvin Gaye and get it on”. According to Luke Bryan, the country music artist who took the stage after them, it was quite a long kiss that kept going even after the commercial break had started.

3. Gigi Hadid dissed Harry Styles on the red carpet.

It’s no secret that Gigi Hadid is close friends with Taylor Swift, so when she ran into Taylor’s ex, Harry Styles, on the American Music Awards red carpet, Gigi did what any true BFF would do and gave him a barely cordial handshake. It would have gone unnoticed, had she not make a point of greeting the rest of the One Direction band members with a hug.

4. Nick Jonas performed solo.

With a medley of his three hit songs, “Chains”, “Levels”, and “Jealous”, Nick Jonas of boy band The Jonas Brothers fame took to the stage and proved that he doesn’t need the support of his brothers to deliver an amazing performance.

5. Jared Leto and Celine Dion paid tribute to the victims of Paris.

In one of the more somber moments of the evening, Jared Leto introduced Celine Dion’s performance of “Hymne à l’amour” with a touching tribute to the victims and survivors of the recent tragedies that occurred in Paris.

6. Carrie Underwood’s performance of her new single.

Ever since she won first place on the show American Idol, Carrie Underwood has been proving that she has the chops. With a passionate performance of her new single “Heartbeat”, Carrie reminded us why she is the queen of country music.
