Amazon announces the $200 Kindle Voyage along with other Fire tablets

Amazon announces the $200 Kindle Voyage along with other Fire tabletsAmazon unveiled a number of devices yesterday which includes the all new Kindle flagship, the Kindle Voyage. This new device is probably the best e-reader that’s currently in the market and tries to replicate the same experience that you get while reading a book.

There are three other devices as well namely the Fire HD 6, Fire HD 7 and the large Fire HDX 8.9 which will be the flagship device.

Before we move on to these three devices, let’s take a look at the new Kindle Voyage. This particular e-reader is much different than other tablets made for reading. It comes with a glass-screen display, a first for Amazon which makes everything look more like paper.

Voyage’s 6 inch screen is the same type of e-ink display seen on earlier e-readers however; it’s much sharper and brighter than them. Its 39 percent brighter than Kindle Paperwhite and at 300 PPI, it’s much sharper too. The device has very wide viewing angles and is glare free.

The new e-reader also features a pressure sensitive touch area on the both sides of the screen bezels which can be used to turn pages. All these features along with software additions like Word Wise make Kindle Voyage one of the best devices to read.

However, it does come at a price. You have to shell out $200 to buy a new Voyage, which is a bit too high for a device with just one function. Amazon is aware of this but still believes that true reading lovers will definitely like the product.

Unlike the Voyage which is targeted at a niche market, the new Fire HD 6, which is the company’s new 6 inch tablet, is aimed at the masses. This $100 tablet was made to offer the best experience in this price range. For those who like a bigger screen, Amazon has the new Fire HD 7 for $140. Both the devices feature 1280 x 800 pixel resolution screens and come with a 1.5 GHz Quad Core processor. You get front and back cameras too.

Finally, the flagship device in the Fire tablet range is the new Fire HDX 8.9. The device comes with a Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.5Ghz which makes it 75% faster than its predecessor. You get a faster  Wi-Fi too i.e. Wi-Fi ac standard which is four times faster. There are a number of other features like the Amazon Firefly, Dolby Atmos audio and a new adaptive reading backlight.

The new Fire HDX 8.9 is available for pre-order at $380. The rest of the Fire and HDX devices too can be pre-ordered now and they will start shipping in October.
