Acer’s latest tablet was launched in the market today (October 17). The 8-inch Iconia W4 tablet is a compact but spacious tablet PC that should stand out for its sharper display, faster performance, and enhanced clarity. The new product is sleek but powerful and highly functional.
In a news release, the Taiwanese PC manufacturer said the Iconia W4 facilitates next-level productivity as well as media consumption specifically for users who are on the go. The device is targeted at professional and active users who prefer a useful tablet that would be easier to carry and convenient for multitasking activities.
The new Acer tablet would begin shipping in the US sometime this month. It would initially cost $329.99 for a 32GB version. A 64GB version would cost $379.99. Not surprisingly, the new device runs on Intel Atom processor (fourth generation) with up to eight hours of battery life for video playback and about 10 hours for online browsing.
The Iconia W4 has basic features that do not significantly vary from those inherent in its predecessor, the Iconia W3. Iconia W4 has slimmed down, though. It weighs 0.91 pound and is 0.42-inch thin. In comparison, its direct predecessor weighs 1.1 pounds and is 0.45-inch thin.
The tablet comes with micro-USB and micro-HDMI ports. It could expand its storage by up to 32GB. The device has a 2-megapixel camera at the front and a 5-megapixel camera at its rear. That is why it could be used in shooting pictures and videos in a display resolution of up to 1080 pixels.
Other impressive features
The Iconia W4 has a 16:10 ratio paired with a display resolution of 1,200 X 800 pixels. It comes with IPS display that brings about consistent images, brightness, and color. Acer even eliminated the usual ripple effect that is common in touch-screen devices. It has Zero Air Gap feature that tightens the space between the LCD module and the touch panel to reduce reflection and bolster readability.
Pre-loaded with the latest Windows 8.1 operating system, the Iconia W4 also comes with Microsoft Office Home along with Student 2013 Edition. The new Acer tablet has new impressive features like the Microsoft InstantGo that refreshes apps and data automatically and whenever an online connectivity is detected. These and more interesting features are expected to make this device an ideal purchase this season.
