12.9 inch iPad Pro might be real according to a Taiwanese Daily

12.9 inch iPad Pro might be real according to a Taiwanese DailyA few months back, several rumors hinted at a possible large screen iPad from Apple. Today, there’s a new report which adds to these rumors.

The news comes directly from a Taiwanese news publication called Economic News Daily which claims that Apple will release a 12.9 inch iPad along with two other models in the coming months.

As mentioned above, this is not the first time we are hearing about a 12.9 inch iPad. Last year, several sources had mentioned about a new large screen tablet from Apple aimed at enterprise customers. At that time, the same source said that there could be two different version of the iPad pro, namely a 2K and a 4K version.

While today’s source says nothing about the features of the device, it does add that there will be three different iPad versions this year, as opposed to the two versions usually released by the Cupertino giant. There will be a 9.7 inch iPad Air 2, a new 7.9 inch iPad Mini 3 and a 12.9inch iPad Pro.

While there are still rumors about Apple putting hold on the production of iPad Pro, we think that fans may finally see the device this year. This is because; Apple just announced its partnership with IBM to focus on enterprise customers and a large screen iOS device like the iPad Pro would be perfect for such customers.

The landmark deal would allow Apple and IBM to share their resources to offer high quality enterprise solutions to their customers. IBM would be in charge of selling iOS devices which will come pre-loaded with apps and services aimed at enterprise customers. They will also create new generation of apps which will be designed for enterprise use like retail, marketing, banking etc. Moreover, these apps will rely on existing infrastructure like IBM cloud services as well as Apple’s new services like AppleCare for enterprise.

So, with Apple now focusing on corporate customers, iPad Pro would be its next logical step. And if the device turns out to be real, it would compete with Microsoft’s Surface Pro, which is yet another device targeted at users who like to work on a large screen.

Economic Daily News also reports that TPK will supply all the touch sensors used by new iPad and iWatch models which are scheduled to release this year.

You can expect the new iPad Pro along with other two models sometime after iPhone 6 is released, which will most likely be around September this year.
