Donald Trump Calls Meryl Streep ‘Over-Rated’
President-elect Donald Trump has once again made a mindless remark of Meryl Streep, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globes this year. This happened after Streep criticized Trump in her acceptance speech.
Meryl Streep said that Trump is a Hillary flunky who lost big. She also added, in reference to Trump, that when the powerful uses their position to bully others, then everyone loses. She also talked about respect and violence-what you give is what you receive. Her speech received three standing ovations at The Color Purple.
In response, President-elect Donald Trump hits back at Streep on Twitter. He said that Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood attacked his character last night at the Golden Globes, even if she doesn’t know him, according to Twitter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trump called Streep overrated without further analyzing why and without acknowledging any of her work. He just said it just because Streep was a vocal Clinton supporter. And, Streep used the opportunity at the Golden Globe’s stage to talk about Trump, and nothing else.

Streep also referred to a previous incident that happened between Trump and a disabled reporter, Serge Kovaleski of the New York Times. She told everyone in the halls of the The Color Purple that, that moment broke her heart. She referred to a rally on November 2015, when Trump imitated the reporter upon getting on stage, a mockery of his condition. Trump, however, denied the allegations in an interview saying that not everyone can read his mind, not even Meryl Streep.
Everyone at the Golden globes paid attention to Streep’s speech. And, despite the backlash from Trump, most Hollywood celebrities are in support of her. They also took to Twitter to express it with the #MerylStreep and a thank you. But, of course, there are still a few people who disagree.
