The Deadpool marketing team has really been taking on a life of their own as they have come up with yet another clever idea to promote Marvel’s upcoming anti-hero movie!

Deadpool’s story might sound simple—a former Special Forces operative Wade Wilson whose life was turned upside down after an experiment went wrong, setting him on a path of revenge under the guise of his alter-ego, Deadpool.

Deadpool seeks out the man who ruined and almost ended his life in a typical revenge story—but the character’s sharp wit and no-holds-barred persona makes him stand out, and the team behind the promotions have been using this to their advantage.

While people have already gotten a glimpse of just how sarcastic Deadpool’s quips can get, the brilliant guys behind the scenes went above and beyond by shooting a hilarious testicular cancer ad entitled ‘Touch Yourself Tonight,’ posted by none other than Ryan Reynolds himself. Reynolds has been supporting the efforts 110%, even keeping the deadpan persona when he interacts with people on Twitter.

By injecting a twisted sense of humor and incorporating modern topics, coupled with how Reynolds uncanny ability to make the character seem so human, the shares and views on the various promotional materials for Deadpool have skyrocketed.

Today, the marketing team has used a contemporary online ploy to divert people’s attention to the film. If you want to see what sort of shenanigans they’ve come up with, it’s better clicked on than described (no, really. Click here.)

Other cast members include T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein, while Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic lends his voice to Colossus. While there have been reports that Hugh Jackman might make a cameo as Wolverine, these have not been confirmed (but Reynold’s seems to be heavily hinting on Jackman’s participation via his Twitter).

Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of the Zombieland franchise in the role of scriptwriters. The film is slated for a February 12 release and is unsurprisingly rated R.
